I didn’t want this Lamp because it was so beaten up, but Mrs Sparks made me buy it at an Antique Fair, and she is not to be denied! However, it did sit in my workshop for months before the Lockdown brought it to the bench and work began.

Missing its shade, it was broken, bent and filthy. Now stripped down, cleaned, polished, straightened, soldered back together and with a classic shade it’s now ready to adorn any household.

Description

Working on it I came to the opinion that it was most probably made from parts of an old gas Lamp of the Victorian period.

Now fitted with a genuine replacement etched glass shade, with sepia tingeing to the rim, it stands approx 210mm high with a base diameter of 140mm. With an obligatory cable grip on the swivel arm, the Lamp is fitted with classic brown braided cable approx 2000mm in length from the cable grip with a black in-line switch and plug. The bulb holder is a standard BC (bayonet cap) fitting and the base is base covered.

This Lamp is tested and registered for electrical safety.
