Mike – Lighting Restoration Expert and Supplier of Genuine Period & Antique Lighting

Shortly into the new millennium I retired from my 30 year profession in the Financial Markets. After running a Charity for 5 years I found myself working in the Antiques industry looking after Auction Houses, who were my customers for on-line bidding services.

In all that time I have always loved using my hands on DIY projects, motor mechanics, model making and even fly tying for my fishing, all of which I still do. I have restored old MGs (and still have a 1965 MGB), I keep our old house in order, I make model cars to a very high standard winning a competition for this in my youth and occasionally even catch a trout on a fly I’ve tied myself. Having always had an interest in Antiques about 20 years ago I was asked to repair and restore a selection of old lamps and lights by an Antique Dealer friend. My business developed from there, I’ve got the right surname…

My passion for Antiques and Collectables is stronger than ever and I get a massive sense of achievement every time I take a battered and inoperative piece, restore it to its former glory and make it work properly. Most things that break or stop working in our house end up on my workbench before a replacement is even considered. My dear old Mum reckons I could’ve got out of Colditz!
