Watcombe Pottery Lamp

£45.00

Spotted this cute little Lamp on a well known on-line auction site and had to have it.

Bearing the Watcombe Pottery of Torquay stamp this is a classic of one their designs. Founded in 1869 the Watcombe Pottery used fine Devon red clay for all of its products often depicting classic images of the Torquay area. This Lamp has a beautifully painted country cottage and garden scene. There are no imperfections at all albeit the deep glaze has fine crackling very common for pieces of this age which I estimate to be pre WWII. The factory finally closed in 1962.

Description

The Lamp was completely bare and has been refitted with a brass SBC (small bayonet cap) bulb holder which sits on a brass collar to give correct shade height. The fixings are protected by rubber washers either side of the top aperture and there is an internal cable grip. In keeping with the age of the Lamp the cable is brown braided, approx 175mm in length and fitted with a black in-line switch and black 3amp plug.

Tested and registered for electrical safety this is a perfect little Lamp for a Country or Seaside Cottage.
