‘Sputnik’ Style 70s Chrome & Plastic Ceiling Light

£250.00

A fantastic genuine example of a 70s Ceiling Light.  This light was in a sorry condition but has been restored to the former glory of that iconic period.  Following the Russian Space Missions ‘Sputnik’ style it has three branches each spitting into two others making six lights.  The drop from the top of the ceiling cup to the bottom of the shades is approx. 690mm and it has an effective diameter of approx. 400mm.

Description

Completely stripped down and cleaned some of the parts were re-chromed before rewiring and reassembly.   One of the glass shades had a small piece broken off at the top collar.  This was cemented back in with specific glass cement and wired to add strength, as can be seen.  Spring loaded threaded caps fit into each shade which then screw into the bulb holder pods.  This repair is sound and cannot be seen when the shade is screwed in, albeit I advise not over tightening on this one in particular.  There is a particular procedure to fitting the bulbs and then the shades which will be included on a crib sheet with the Light.

The bulb holders are plastic continental SES (small Eddison screw) type for which bulbs are readily available, even in most supermarkets.  The ceiling cup is original and a new hook is included.  The supply cable is fitted with ‘boot lace’ crimps for easy connection.

Tested, labelled and registered for electrical safety this Light should only be fitted to a suitably fused lighting circuit by a Qualified Electrician.
