Description
The Lamp was completely stripped down, as shown, cleaned and re-assembled. It remains very slightly on the skew vertically, albeit the bulb holder sits square to the horizontal. Much time was spent trying to straighten it but the base thread was eventually considered to be the problem which is impossible to correct without serious intervention. However, it is so elegant, I felt it worth restoring and in a way the slight distortion adds to the obvious authenticity.
The Lamp gives the appearance of a ‘Pullman’ type and could well have been in a railway carriage of similar. Probably Edwardian or slightly later, it is fitted with a SBC (small bayonet cap) bulb holder and approx. 1500mm of Brown braided flex in keeping with the period. There is a black in-line switch, 3 amp plug and internal cable grip.
The plinth is new, baize covered and the Lamp is PAT (portable appliance test) tested, labelled and registered.
