Sailing Boat Table Lamp

£180.00

This now wonderful Sailing Boat Table Lamp has been kicking around my workshop for over a decade. The recent Covid 19 Lockdown has given me time to dig out quite a few remnants that needed a great deal of TLC and this lamp was no exception.

Dating from the mid 20th Century it could well have been an Apprentice piece. The key point is that the pig skin sails are in near perfect condition. So often they are badly burnt by the heat of the bulb(s), in which case I wont buy them, but somehow this Lamp escaped!

Description

In a very sorry state when I started work on her – this Sailing Boat was completely stripped down; the wood sanded, polished and re-varnished; all metal work cleaned and polished and the forward bulb holder reconfigured to meet current safety standards.

The sails simply push in to the deck and are held close to the mast by a ring to the top. The main sail has a standard BC (bayonet cap) bulb holder and the forward sail an SBC (small bayonet cap) bulb holder. I strongly recommend using only LED bulbs which create only a very gentle warmth – these will be supplied with the piece. The lamp has been rewired with classic brown braided cable, approx 1650mm in length, with a black in-line switch and plug.

The Lamp has an internal cable grip, is baized covered on the base and tested and registered for electrical safety.
