As you can see from the photos it was in a very sorry state when I got it. However, everything was present so I set about its restoration. The Light itself is approx. 340mm high and sits 110mm away from the wall plate, which is 260mm x 64mm. The glass is in near perfect order with the slightest of nibble to the bottom flange which is unseen when it’s in place. The bottom yellow section is a phenolic compound so typical of the period.
After stripping down all chrome parts were cleaned and sent for re-plating and the result is truly stunning. After re-plating the threads for the shade retaining screws were fouled so I needed to rethread these. It was a very small and dated thread but I managed to find a thread tap to work in the back of an old tool shop so I could finish the job correctly. Fitted with a BC (bayonet cap) standard bulb holder the supply cable is fitted with ‘boot lace’ crimps for easy connection. It fits to the wall by four screw slots so is simple to fix.
The Light has been tested for electrical safety, labelled and registered and should only be fitted to a suitably fused light circuit by a Qualified Electrician.
