Robert Thompson considered that he and his colleagues were so poorly paid that they lived like Church Mice and subsequently carved a mouse onto everything he made, hence the nickname. His work is highly prized among furniture collectors and as this piece examples, he made many other objects from bookends to barometers, letter racks, candle sticks, bread boards and more. The texture on this wonderful piece of oak really brings out the grain and is a must for all wood lovers. The lamp was completely stripped down, cleaned, polished to high finish, reassembled and rewired. There is a standard brass BC (bayonet cap) bulb holder and the base was drilled out to accept an internal cable grip.
The cable is Antique Gold braided flex, approx. 1900mm in length and fitted with a black in-line switch and 3 amp plug. The plinth is baize covered. The Lamp is PAT (portable appliance test) tested, labelled and registered.
